On September 7, a community watch event was held at the Permanent Care Center (CAP) in the municipality of San Pablo La Laguna, Sololá.
The event was organized by students from the third cohort of the Citizen School for the Right to Health and community advocates from the REDC-HEALTH, with the support and guidance of the technical team from the Center for Studies on Equity and Governance in Health Systems (CEGSS).
As part of the monitoring methodology, interviews were conducted with health service management and staff, the infrastructure conditions were directly observed, and needs and issues affecting the operation and delivery of services were identified.
This process aims to monitor the conditions and challenges faced by public health services in order to contribute to care based on the principles of availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality, with a human rights-based approach and cultural relevance.
As a result of the monitoring, issues were identified regarding patient care, infrastructure conditions, the lack of drinking water on the premises, the supply of medications and medical supplies, equipment, and the overall operation of the facility.
The findings, recommendations, and proposals for improvement will be compiled into a technical report that will be presented to the various entities within the health care system, with the aim of promoting actions that contribute to strengthening public services, transparency, and accountability.
