On August 19, 2026, in Momostenango, Totonicapán, REDC-SALUD and CEGSS held a capacity-building meeting to define advocacy and management actions in the area of health.

During the meeting, participants reviewed strategies for engaging with the authorities of the 48 cantons and the municipality, strengthening the Citizens’ School, participating in forums such as COMUDE and COMUSAN, and increasing awareness of REDC-SALUD’s work through community media.

As part of the agreements, it was proposed to launch a Ongoing monitoring at the Chotacaj Community Health Center, launch a new branch of the Escuela Ciudadana, manage radio and television programs, and apply for accreditation to participate in municipal decision-making forums.

It was also agreed to hold meetings with the municipal REDC-SALUD to follow up on the actions taken and strengthen community organization in defense of the right to health.
