On August 11, 2026, in Santa Cruz del Quiché, REDC-SALUD and CEGSS held a follow-up meeting with DDRISSQ regarding the proposal to reactivate the Nutritional Recovery Center (CRN) in San Bartolomé Jocotenango. It was noted that the initiative arose from citizen monitoring conducted in the municipality, which identified infrastructure and staff but also revealed deteriorating equipment and a lack of funding for its operation. The proposal was submitted as part of the 2025 open budget process and was partially approved.
During the meeting, it was agreed to follow up on the CRN’s funding and equipment needs—the CRN is considered one of the largest in the department—as well as to continue monitoring the request for an ambulance for Microregion II of the Reina Zone. REDC-SALUD will resend the project to the appropriate email addresses, and the DDRISSQ representative will provide an update on the next follow-up meeting, thereby strengthening coordination and advocacy efforts to improve nutritional care in the communities.
