On August 14, 2026, REDC-SALUD, CEGSS, and the Health Information and Patient Services Unit (UISAU) of the Santa Cruz del Quiché Regional Hospital held a follow-up meeting to strengthen the quality and cultural appropriateness of patient care. They reviewed the forms for complaints, suggestions, and expressions of gratitude, incorporating elements such as language, cultural background, and information about accompanying persons. In addition, they agreed to promote actions to ensure care is provided in local languages, strengthen monitoring through satisfaction surveys, and address issues related to patient treatment and the work environment.

As part of the agreements, a legal framework on language rights and services in the native language will be drafted, an implementation plan for the suggestion boxes will be developed, and a commission of advocates will be formed to support the monitoring processes. The production of videos and infographics in K’iche’, Ixil, and Q’eqchi’ regarding the range of services, hours of operation, visitation rules, and use of the suggestion boxes will also be coordinated, thereby enhancing the information available to and participation of the user population.
