On August 27, 2026, in Nebaj, El Quiché, REDC-SALUD and CEGSS participated in the regular COMUDE meeting to present the actions taken by the Surveillance and Monitoring Committee in defense of the right to health.

During the session, the District Hospital’s main needs were presented, along with the proposals submitted to municipal authorities, including: securing a plot of land for the construction of a new hospital, a hearing with the City Council, the formation of a technical monitoring committee, a suitable ambulance, and the supply of medications through a PROAM pharmacy.

The event, held in Ixil and Spanish, served to convey the community’s concerns to local and municipal authorities, thereby strengthening opportunities for citizen participation.

As a result, the Oversight and Monitoring Committee was invited to formally register with COMUDE through three representatives and to participate in the evaluation of the Municipal Development Plan.
