Inauguration of the Citizen School in Coban

Inauguration of the Citizen School in Coban

The municipality of Cobán witnessed a significant meeting where human rights defenders shared their experiences with new participants at the inauguration of the second cohort of the Citizen School for the Right to Health.

During the event, the methodology that will be developed throughout the process was presented, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with the work and the fundamental topics that will be addressed during the training: Human Rights, Right to Health, Citizen Participation, Health Surveillance and Advocacy Processes. These contents will be taught through a hybrid approach, combining different work strategies to maximize the impact and participation of the attendees.

A central aspect of the activities developed is the legal empowerment of community leaders, specifically within the framework of the Right to Health. This effort seeks to strengthen the capacity of young people, midwives and community leaders to defend and promote rights in their communities.

The CEGSS team, together with the REDC-SALUD advocates, will continue to work closely with the participants to ensure the success of the program and the strengthening of the social fabric in Alta Verapaz.
