On August 13, 2026, via the Zoom platform, REDC-SALUD and CEGSS participated in an exchange of experiences with women leaders from the Tosepan Pajtí Cooperative in Mexico and the ARC team, with the aim of sharing lessons learned about health promotion, traditional medicine, community organizing, and advocating for the right to health. During the meeting, Tosepan Pajtí presented its experience in medical care, health promotion and prevention, the use of medicinal plants, the work of health promoters and guardians, as well as initiatives to strengthen healthy lifestyles and the well-being of families and communities.
For their part, REDC-SALUD and CEGSS shared their experience with citizen oversight of health services, training advocates, documenting needs, engaging in dialogue with authorities, and following up on community demands. The exchange helped identify lessons learned and areas of common interest, highlighting the importance of strengthening community organization, exchanging tools, and continuing to share experiences between Mexico and Guatemala. As a follow-up, it was agreed to maintain communication and delve deeper in future meetings into the work of health guardians and promoters, citizen oversight, and the defense of the right to health.
