Our work methodology

We are a research center that bases its work on the methodology of Participatory Action Research (PAR), which consists of:

  • Systematize local experience and organize collective analysis;
  • Linking analysis with reflection and action, organizing experiences, perceptions and facts to generate new learning and knowledge;
  • To turn people from excluded communities into researchers and agents of change.

Through our research and technical training at CEGSS, we are able to have an impact in the following areas:

  • Democratization of knowledge,
  • Strengthening democratic governance of the health system,
  • Promoting transparency and
  • Accountability of state institutions and promotion of citizen participation.

At CEGSS, research and the publication of findings are only components of a broader process that includes:

  • The transfer of knowledge generated by research to the population groups directly affected by the problems under investigation.
  • The implementation of capacity-building processes for community organizations to use evidence/knowledge in their social mobilization processes.
  • The implementation of strategic advocacy processes. In addition to the above, all the topics investigated by CEGSS arise from the interest and demand of the community organizations with which CEGSS collaborates.
